Extraordinary Skills or Qualifications

This category encompasses a foreign national who has demonstrated to the Director-General of Home Affairs that he or she possesses extraordinary skills or qualifications.

It will be necessary for an applicant in this category to provide the following:

Proof of at least five (5) years post-qualification working experience;
A letter from a foreign or local organ of state, or relevant recognized body, confirming the presence of these skills;
Evidence of the impact these skills have on the South African economy or the specific context of their application.

Applicants must show that their skills are of a caliber that justifies the issuance of Permanent Residence without the standard sponsorship or points-based requirements usually associated with other work-related categories.
