A retired or financially independent person may apply for temporary residence in this category provided he/she complies with the requirements set out hereunder and which are coupled to a lifelong right to a pension or an irrevocable retirement annuity or prescribed minimum income.
This permit is specifically designed for individuals who have reached retirement age or possess sufficient financial independence to sustain themselves without reliance on the South African labor market. Applicants must satisfy the Department of Home Affairs regarding their financial stability and character.
